The itinerary involves physically strenuous activities including hiking, cycling and kayaking. This is interspersed with time to take in the architecture and natural sights such as volcanos, lakes and whale watching.
Cultural - 3
The nine islands of the Azores all have their own unique touches in the landscape, traditions, cuisine and architecture. They have been sculptured by ancient volcanoes and populated over the centuries by courageous and kind people. This itinerary has a low cultural challenge rating as what you will experience is not too dissimilar from the UK, transport is efficient, and accommodation will be in hostels and hotels.
Environmental - 2
The Azores are characterised by their mild climate throughout the year. The average temperature ranges from between 13° and 22°C throughout the whole year. Clouds and rain are a possibility any time of the year. The summer months, between June and September, have longer periods of sunshine and higher temperatures.
