A POSITIVE START TO 2022

While the pandemic may have grounded flights and prevented teams from undertaking the immersive learning experiences we’re so proud to offer, it did allow us to take a step back and simply, pause. As we reflected, we reviewed, researched, and questioned the fundamentals of our organisation, recognising this moment as an opportunity to learn through challenge, and to grow and adapt to an ever-changing world.

We started by declaring a climate emergency, supporting the global campaign to halve emissions by 2030, and reach Net Zero as soon as possible before 2050. In doing so we committed to delivering a climate action plan within 12 months of making our declaration.

We then made a further commitment by becoming launch partners of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism. As such, we’re part of a network of organisations committed to aligning our action plans with the five shared pathways: measure, decarbonise, regenerate, collaborate, finance.

Now, as we welcome a new year, we want to keep that same momentum for change and are thrilled to announce a new partnership with sustainability consultancy, Positive Planet. Over the coming weeks we’ll be working with the team at Positive Planet to measure our current impact, using recognised GHG Protocol Reporting. By understanding our carbon footprint, we will then be able to establish decarbonisation and reduction strategies, which will be measured and improved upon year-on-year.

Simon Adams, Managing Director: “Despite a turbulent couple of years for the travel industry, we ended 2021 on a high with a new vision and ethos for the future sustainability of Outlook Expeditions.

“I am delighted to welcome the expertise of Positive Planet into the mix, to assist us on our journey, and help us to set and achieve authentic carbon reduction goals. This is just the start of a really important and exciting time for Outlook, as we follow our own guiding principles of innovation, collaboration, and kindness, to become an altogether more sustainable organisation.”
