When Theo secured his place on an Outlook Expeditions conservation expedition to Malaysia, he knew funding the opportunity would take hard work, creativity and determination.
Rather than relying on a single fundraiser, Theo set himself monthly targets and developed a fundraising plan built around lots of different ideas. From Halloween stalls and doughnut sales to homemade jam, handmade soaps and community raffles, he embraced every opportunity to move closer to his goal.

What makes Theo's story particularly impressive is not just the amount he has raised, but the initiative he has shown throughout the process. Many of his fundraising ideas required him to step outside his comfort zone, speak to new people, approach local businesses and organise events from start to finish.
"Fundraising can be hard, especially when you're balancing it with school," said Theo. "But if you put in the effort and think outside the box, it can actually be really enjoyable."
Along the way, Theo has developed valuable skills including goal setting, financial planning, enterprise, resilience and confidence. These are exactly the kinds of experiences that help prepare young people for life beyond the classroom.
"It's shown me that with determination and creativity, you really can turn small ideas into something successful."
With his Malaysia expedition approaching, Theo's fundraising journey is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when a young person combines ambition with perseverance and a willingness to try something different.
