India Visa

Visas are unavailable on arrival and therefore, must be obtained in advance.

The visa that you need is the ‘e-Tourist Visa (30 days)’. You should check carefully whether you’re eligible for an eVisa before you apply. British subject, British protected person, British overseas citizen, British national (overseas) and British Overseas Territories citizen passport holders aren’t eligible to apply for an eVisa.

HOW TO APPLY

You can apply for your eVisa 120 days (maximum) and 4 days (minimum) before your flight. In order to avoid any complications with the visa process, you should be applying for your visa as soon as you are eligible i.e. 120 days before your flight. During the application process, you will be asked to provide the date of entry into India - your visa will then be valid for 30 days from this date.

You’ll need to apply online for your e-visa: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html. The service costs around $40.

The documents required for completing the eVisa application are indicated against each type of eVisa, you should have all these documents to hand before beginning to fill in your eVisa application.

Port of Arrival: Please check your flight details for your first point of entry into India e.g. if you are flying to Mumbai - Chennai, your port of arrival would be Mumbai.
