British nationals require a visa to travel to Tanzania. Your visa must be applied for prior to departure.
The type of visa needed is a single entry travel visa. This visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issue and cannot therefore be arranged until 3 months prior to your return flight date.
The visa costs £40 which is payable by bank transfer addressed to the Tanzania High Commission if applying by post or by card if applying in person. For bank transfer information follow the Tanzania High Commission website link below.
Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date you’re entering Tanzania.

You can apply for your visa in person or through the post.
In person applications
The Tanzania High Commission accepts applications Monday to Friday from 10.00am to 12.30pm. It’s a walk in service and an appointment is not necessary.
Postal application
All postal application need to include a stamped self-addressed special or recorded delivery return envelope.
All applications by post must include proof of payment. This can be: a payment receipt, a payment confirmation, a cash deposit receipt from the Tanzania High Commission bank, a transfer receipt from your bank or a screenshot of the online banking transfer with the amount and date visible.
